What brings a community to life are the hearts and hands of the people in it. Share your enthusiasm and spirit! We’re grateful to our many volunteers who prepare and serve coffee and treats every Sunday after service; who sing in the choir and play in the handbell chorus; to those who knit prayer shawls and chemo caps; who come out to support special events – like our annual Stampede Breakfast and spring cleanups; everyone who volunteers as ushers; who dedicate their time with the Pastoral Care team to visit those who are ill, in need, or isolated and unable to attend; who make sandwiches for the Drop-In Centre; to all those who keep our Thrift Store running smoothly, and more.

Are you interested in joining the community of volunteers at St. Matt’s? You can find more information below, but are welcome to contact us about how you’d like to take part.

Thrift Store Volunteer Staff

The St. Matt’s Thrift Store is in need of a volunteer or two who would like to help out by sorting incoming donations, organizing the shop, and conducting sales. This is a great opportunity to help people, find hidden treasures, and connect with the community. Volunteer for a morning or afternoon shift on Wednesday’s, and/or on Saturday’s between 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Please speak to Dorothy or contact the office if you have some spare time to help out. Thank you!

Prayer Shawl and Chemo-Cap Knitters

Old man knitting

Would you like to put a little love into your knitting projects? Our Prayer Shawl and Chemo Cap knitters are always looking for extra hands to create caps and shawls to present to those going through difficult times. We present these items to the Children’s Hospital and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, as well as to any individual needing some love and support (and something cozy to boot!). For more details on how you can help talk to Doris Whittingham, or contact the office.
