Antonina Cox, the new music director at St.Matthew’s, comes with 18 years of experience working in the United Church, including Parkdale and McDougall United. She is excited to work at St.Matthew’s and contribute to their experienced and talented full sized and bell choir, which are made up of dedicated volunteers who have offered their time and talents for many years.
Antonina has been teaching piano and theory, and performing with singers and choral groups for over 29 years, 25 of which are in Canada. She has worked as a collaborative pianist with Cantare Children’s choir, Calgary Choral Society and other groups, and currently is involved with Bach Society Choir and Calgary Women’s Choir.
She studied piano and musicology in the Special Music School (Minsk, Belarus) and at the St.Petersburg Conservatory (Russia). She also sang with a capella group Camerata from Belarus, and studied organ at the Mount Royal Organ Academy (Canada).
Antonina loves to work with all ages, and hopes that there will be opportunities to work with youth, children and adult volunteers on inter-generational projects around Christmas and other high seasons.
The music program at St.Matthew has many opportunities for instrumentalists, singers, bell ringers, and soloists. If you’d like to share your talent and be a part of our music program, please talk to Antonina or e-mail to the office.
