Our readings for Thanksgiving Sunday include Jeremiah 29:1-4,7; 32:27-34, Psalm 65, and Joel 2:23-32.
A rewarding life includes awareness of and gratitude for the blessings in our lives, and blessing others by sharing the gifts we have received. Optimum physical well-being is achieved by including a high flow through in terms of food and exercise. Our bodies were designed to comfortably burn through 4000 to 6000 calories per day, and the various systems in our bodies benefit from this high flow through of energy. In the same way, our emotional and spiritual health are assisted by openness to accepting the blessings that come to us and by blessing others in turn. Deep happiness includes being blessed and blessing others.
This Thanksgiving weekend, may we take time to recognize the many ways in which we are blessed, review the ways in which we bless others, and consider new ways for sharing our blessings.
